Clean Faces

Updated: May 15, 2020

So lately we’ve been getting asked a lot in the shop about skin care.. So I thought I’d do a quick review on what products we use and what are thoughts are

Flawless skin look – Cleanse, toning and moisturizing is a MUST before you apply make up.. the difference it makes is unbelievable, never clean your face with a baby wipe before you apply foundation if you want it to sit on your skin right!

If you’ve ever been in the shop for your make up done you’ll notice I always cleanse and tone before I start.. and most of you will say oooooo what’s that minty thing you’ve just put on my skin it smells so fresh, I feel so clean! Sad thing is.. I make my own cleanser because these days you can’t buy a retail one without it being full of shit! And that’s exactly what you need to do, cut the shit!!

There’s so many home remedies on the internet you can follow… my favourite..

Pure vitamin E – an antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals, which play a part in ageing Pure almond oil – Is used to gently dislodge debris from deep within the skins pores and follicles, and also may help prevent future acne because of its vitamin A content! Pure aloe Vera – contains two hormones, Auxin and Gibberellins. These two hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce skin inflammation. Pure peppermint drops – good for killing bacteria and a good overall smell giving you that fresh feeling and a little tingle! It also helps prevent acne!

Pure it all into a jug, give it a little whisk.. I buy these handy little spray bottles and pumps from Superdrug which I then transfer it too!

Once youve Mixed them all together and you have one lovely cleanser! I use this morning and night.. and by night time even if you’ve had no make on.. you’ll be surprised how dirty your face is!!

You want to clean your hands and work it into your face just one pump will do..

Girls with oily skin don’t be afraid to use oil. Oil actually combats oil! Don’t be scared to make your skin a bit greasy!

Next step you need a good toner to take off the cleanser.. that’s when a good oldie comes in! You can’t beat pure rose water.. Pure rose water is a bit pricey.. and hard to find! But it’s worth it! Squirt the rose water onto a cotton pad and wipe your face clean until you feel like you’ve removed all of the oil cleanser!

Once a week, maybe twice depending on how spotty I am.. I’ll give my skin a good exfoliation. I like to use LUSH ocean salt scrub! The self preserving version lasts for so long and it contains only natural preservatives to keep itself clean and safe to use. Salt, as well as being a kick-ass cleanser and exfoliator, is an age-old preservative, which prevents bacteria from growing and reproducing if used in high enough concentrations.

Over exfoliating can really dry your skin out.. and sometimes make it sensitive. It’s really only necessary once or twice a week!

People with bad skin.. if you spend a fortune on skin products in hoping your going to clear your spots away 9 times out of 10.. they won’t work, retail products no matter how natural they say they are.. there not! If your a spotty person like myself most of the time it’s things happening inside your body which is causing the outburst so before spending a fortune in creams and potions start with the easy things. Drink water! Eat the right foods.. cut the sugar.. cut the alcohol.. sleep well and sometimes if your an unlucky buger like me and have spots all around the mouth and jaw line. It’s hormonal and there’s no amount of creams to fix that! Sometimes you’ve got to ride it out.. but having a nice clean face in the meantime won’t do any harm.. at least let the skin be the best it can be!

Those of you interested in finding out more about whats going in inside your body you should look into a process called skin mapping, this is where the spots on your face can give an indication of where there coming from due to organs inside your body.. so for example your chin is hormonal/gynecological Under the eyes is kidney related The forehead is bladder Cheeks is lungs.. There’s more depth into these it is interesting to read!

Moisturizer – I’m going to be honest.. I still haven’t found one I’m happy with! This is the only thing I seem to swap around a lot!! I don’t make my own haha! I tend to try and buy good branded ones that have the least rubbish in! My favourite at the minute is kiehls face cream! I was made up when it was on offer on our easy jet flight to Spain!! Another good one I love.. is l’occitane’s angelica cream which was recommended to me when I was struggling with really bad skin after my first son was born!

The more natural you can do with everything the kinder you will be to your skin!

Never wash your face in the shower with soaps or shower gels.. they really dry your skin out and just overall aren’t good! Try and avoid doing anything to your face in the shower maybe a splash of clean water.. if your sat in the bath.. try not to get your bath water on your face.. it seems so extreme but that hot water opens your pores right up and then you go splashing your bath water init when the days dirt has just soaked right off your feet.. and you’ve just rubbed it right in your open pores!!

If your skin is getting you down.. if you struggle then try some of these changes! If your lucky to have good skin and don’t struggle then keep doing what your doing! No need to fix something that ain’t broken sistaa!!
